Dyson. One of the most well-known and reputable vacuum cleaner brands in the world. For decades they have been shocking us with revolutionary cleaning technology that has changed the way we look after our homes.
When you’re looking for a new vacuum cleaner, Dyson is often one of the first models that pop up, but you might be asking yourself “why choose Dyson?”
Well, why not? The company has so many fantastic models and features that it can be hard to say no.
Here are some of the reasons you might want to consider picking up a Dyson, as well as some of the history behind the company.
Why Should You Invest in a Dyson?
So, why should you invest your hard-earned cash in a Dyson vacuum cleaner? After all, they can be a little more expensive than most, and you’ll want to ensure that you are making the right choice before you commit your cash.
Well, aside from the fact that they are a great company, there are a few reasons you should be looking at this brand for your next vacuum.
Dyson vacuum cleaners contain some of the best cleaning technology out there.
They are perfectly suited to those who suffer from asthma and allergies because of the two filters they have (one of which is HEPA), and also the cyclonic technology that prevents dusty air from being pushed back out of the machine.
Due to this technology, they don’t lose suction. It’s difficult to clog them up, and the cyclones won’t get full of dust and dirt.
When they do get clogged, it’s usually pet hair in the floorhead or too much wrapped around the brush bar; quick fixes.
The bagless technology also makes emptying them much easier, and you are always able to see exactly how much you have collected in the canister.
They are easy to clean, use, and maintain, not to mention they tend to remain relatively lightweight through all of their incarnations.
Moving them and handling couldn’t be simpler, and it offers you an effortless vacuuming service.
Each model comes with fantastic accessories, and if you are ever stuck or need help, Dyson customer service is usually superb in terms of quality.
Dyson customer services are open seven days a week, which makes them easy to contact if you have an issue.
You can either call them on your phone, or email them for help. You can also try to get in touch with them via social media, but their website is normally the best option to go for.
You can find contact details and times in the next section.

The History of Dyson
0Understanding the history behind a company can often influence whether or not we choose them. It gives them a sense of personality and allows us to relate to them.
Plus, supporting an older company that has been going strong for decades tends to bring a sense of pride. For the Dyson vacuum cleaner, it all started in 1978 when the British engineer James Dyson bought the Hoover Junior.
At the time, it was the most powerful vacuum cleaner on the market, but it became clogged quickly.
When he opened the bag, he discovered all of the pores were blocked, and it needed to be replaced.
It was a clever design because it forced you to buy new bags, and the market for them was worth a good half a billion a year.
When Dyson was at a local sawmill 1short time later, he noticed all of the sawdust be removed from the air by massive industrial cyclones.
As an engineer, he began asking himself if that kind of technology could be developed to work on a smaller scale. What followed took 15 years and over 5,000 prototypes.
When Was the Dyson Vacuum Invented?
In 1983, James Dyson invented the world’s first ever bagless vacuum cleaner. It was revolutionary, and had both its beginnings and first taste of success in Japan.
The Dyson company was not created until 1991, and the DA 001 was the first model that was released under the name. It was replaced by the DC01 a few years later, and this is the model that Dyson became famous for.
Since then, Dyson has gone from a little company with one man to a huge enterprise with over 1,000 engineers spanning 65 countries.
They are constantly creating new and innovative ways to make cleaning our home easier, with a team of skilled engineers and scientists to make sure that they turn out perfect.
Dyson undertakes a huge number of research projects every year, and they are constantly working on new solutions for worldwide problems.
You can discover more about their current projects on their website and on the Dyson Lab page, but one of the most interesting ones is the M.V. Recyclone.
It’s a river barge that collects plastic and other waste from the water before it is able to get out to the sea. After it has been caught using the net, cyclone technology would be used to separate it in the barge.
It’s a concept that is still in the very early stages of development, but one that could also be exceptionally helpful in solving the waste crisis.
James Dyson Award and James Dyson Foundation
These are two important cause that Dyson has created and backed for many years. The foundation supports young engineers who want to get in the field. It’s a skill that we need more people to take up, and that many do not have access to.
The foundation not only encourages young people to become more passionate about STEM subjects, but it is also a charity that offers financial aid to students, teachers, schools, and bursaries, in order to spread the word.
The award is one based around international design. It’s all about celebrating the next generation of engineers and their creativity.
Their work is encouraged, awarded, and admired on a global platform that gets them recognition for their talent worldwide.
It’s a great way to boost the confidence of young engineers and get them working towards a greater goal; honing their skills and perhaps encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone.
Who Invented the Dyson Vacuum?
Sir James Dyson invented the Dyson vacuum cleaner. He was born on May 2nd, 1947 in England. He studies furniture and interior design before moving onto engineering; the field he is famous for.
He is known for his vacuum cleaners because of the new technology that he created for them – most notably the cyclones that meant bags no longer had to be used.
Since then, the Dyson range has expanded to include things like bladeless fans and heaters, as well as hairdryers.
He has won a number of awards, including the Prince Phillip Designer’s prize, a CBE, a DEng, and FREng, and a Knighthood. All of this because of his spectacular and revolutionary contributions to the engineering field.
Why is Dyson Famous?
The cyclonic technology is what caused Dyson to rise to fame. There had never been anything like them, and they were the first vacuum cleaners to stop using bags.
Since then, the technology has continued to evolve; becoming smarter and more efficient. The ball tech created better and smoother handling, and the new cyclonic models don’t even have separate filters because they don’t need them.
They are famous because they are firsts in their field with everything they do. Their bladeless fans remain a wonder, as well as the perfect way to keep cool without worrying about lingering bacteria; the very reason they are used throughout UK hospitals.
On top of that, the models they produce remain superb quality, as well as reliable.
What Patented Technology Do They Use?
Dyson holds hundreds of patents (if not more) across the UK and the USA. You can find a complete list of their patents on their website: https://www.dyson.com/inside-dyson/patents.html
Some examples of their most famous patents are for the cyclonic technology within their vacuum cleaners, the ball on the upright models, and the bladeless fans. Each of these is part of what makes Dyson such a unique and popular company.
There are so many fantastic Dyson models out there, and pretty much every single one of the models that have been released could be deemed a popular choice.
However, here are some of the most commonly loved Dyson vacuum cleaners for you to get to know:
The Dyson V7
This cordless vacuum cleaner is one of the most popular Dyson have manufactured. It’s lightweight and easy to handle, and while it comes in a stick form, the wand can be removed to make it handheld.
While the running time is short on the maximum setting, the regular mode lasts for quite some time; giving you the chance to vacuum the whole house.
It also comes with a fantastic attachment range, no matter which type of V7 you buy. You can read my detailed review of it here.
The Dyson V11
The V11 is the new kid on the block, and it really does deliver everything Dyson said it would and more.
The stylish new design barely feels any heavier than the others, and the long battery life means you can really take your time cleaning.
The bi is easy to empty, and the filtration system top notch as it is a newly released model. It can also be transformed into a handheld model, and the new range of tools means that vacuuming has never been easier.
I also have a detailed review for it here.
The Dyson DC54
This is one of the most popular upright vacuum cleaners from Dyson, as well as being a cylinder model. It was made to be powerful, dealing with pet hair effortlessly and with a filtration system that asthma and allergy sufferers will love.
Handling is simple, and the long hose and wand combination makes cleaning the stairs a pretty simple task. It has a great canister capacity, fantastic suction, and a whole host of accessories to make life easier for you. Check out my full review here.
