You’ve probably seen us mention the Henry Xtra at several points if you have read the other Numatic reviews we have written. It’s often recommended as an excellent alternative to the standard models, thanks to all of the funky extras that come with it.
When I first received the Henry Xtra HVX200-11, I was incredibly excited to see if it lived up to all the hype – and it wasn’t long before I had it set up and ready to go. Once I ran this over my floors, I was converted – and that’s the short review for this fantastic vacuum cleaner.

Living up to the name that Numatic have made for themselves, and showing its fantastic quality, this could be the next vacuum cleaner for your home. Plus, you will find the price goes down quite frequently, giving you a chance to really grab a bargain.
One of the last brands to manufacture their vacuum cleaners in England, have a read and see if this is the next model you’ll be picking up.
Presenting the Henry Xtra HVX200-11
The Henry Xtra HVX200-11 is one of the best, and it promises to deliver an excellent level of power and suction regardless of the floor that it is working on.
It’s ideal for homes with pets, kids, and a lot of traffic passing through on a daily basis. The range of tools and accessories that come with it make it excellent for working with a number of different situations.
The only downside is the fact that it doesn’t work amazingly with stairs due to its bulky and cumbersome design.
If you are in search of a powerful Numatic that can reach all the way up to the top, you should think about considering a Hetty HET200 which comes with an additional hose so that you can extend the reach to over five metres.

Power & Design
The Henry Xtra HVX200-11 has a 620w motor, which leaves it well within compliance levels with the EU laws regarding vacuum cleaners. This makes it eco-friendly as well as kinder to the environment – so you are leaving less of a carbon footprint.
Despite this lower wattage, it still remains an incredibly powerful vacuum cleaner that will provide you will excellent levels of power while you clean. Unlike some of the other Numatic models, this one uses a single speed motor instead of a twin one.
This means that you do not have the choice between low and high modes, but the single strength is still fantastic for carpets and hard floors alike, something we go into later one.
The Henry Xtra HVX200-11 also features the new Numatic floor head, which is much better and more effective than the previous one. While the new baseplate is now metal as opposed to plastic, this makes absolutely no difference to the way in which it works.
The new side cleaners are definitely one of the best improvements, as this really helps to boost the cleaning power.
There is also a foot-operated switch on the floor head so that you can switch between hard floor and carpet cleaning modes.
The actual design of the Henry Xtra HVX200-11 has been altered as well, so the parking slot on the back of the machine has been moulded to it as opposed to being added as a clip.
Similarly, the slot on the floor heads has been moulded as well. Another new feature is the fact that you can now store two attachments onboard instead of one, and the bucket itself has been moulded so that you cannot put the lid on backwards anymore.
It comes with a great bent handle and two extension tubes so that you can make it longer or shorter according to your needs. The handle is comfortable to hold and also features a suction control feature. This is a vent with a little valve that lets you choose to increase or reduce the suction, and it has been labelled accordingly. Additionally, it can help to further reduce the noise made by the vacuum.
The power cord is stored internally and measures at an excellent ten metres, which is normal for a Numatic vacuum cleaner.
This means you shouldn’t have to switch between sockets very often, and you will be able to get things done faster as a result.
This is accompanied by an excellent conical hose that measures at 2.4 metres. The new hoses are conical to help improve airflow which then increases suction.
All in all, it helps to provide an outstanding cleaning radius.
Effectiveness on Cleaning Stairs
It is a great model for cleaning the stairs, and this is thanks to all of the great tools and attachments that make the process easier (you can read about those a little later). Of course, Numatic has one issue with most of their vacuum cleaners, and that’s the fact that it can be pretty tricky to actually vacuum the stairs.
The hose doesn’t reach to the top and balancing it at the top of the stairs is not a safe practice – trust me, I’ve tried. On the plus side, that doesn’t mean you can’t buy this vacuum cleaner if you have stairs.
Numatic has thought of you, and there is the option to buy extension hoses or ones that are generally longer so that you can replace your current one to get a wider reach.
There are a number of retailers online, and you will find that they are very reasonably priced.

Weight and Handling
Carrying this vacuum cleaner around can be a little heavy and cumbersome, but the handle that has been built into the machine does make this an easier process. Additionally, you shouldn’t need to pick it up too often – just to go up the stairs or maybe between rooms.
Generally, however, the Henry Xtra HVX200-11 is a pretty compact vacuum cleaner in the sense that everything is together in one place.
Plus, most of the time it will be trailing behind you on wheels, which should take most of the weight away.
The handling is very easy due to the wide cleaning radius, and the parking slot we mentioned earlier really helps with making storage a simpler process.
Dust Capacity
Just as with any other Numatic vacuum cleaner, the Henry Xtra HVX200-11 comes with a total of four dust bags – which should last you a good few months. There are three in the box, and the fourth is already fitted into the machine so that it is ready to use immediately.
With a large nine-litre capacity, you will have to wait a while before you need to change them. Plus, the bags are widely available and affordable. The fact that they are really strong is also very helpful, and this is because they are the new HepaFlow bags.
These are not made from paper like the old ones, and are instead much more secure so that dust and debris don’t escape, something that is aided by the addition of a tight seal.
Having asthma and allergy sufferers in my home, I found this particular feature very useful when cleaning.
The filter is a standard Numatic one, but it is still excellent at capturing and trapping dust particles and allergens that are sucked up – preventing them from being pushed back into the air.
Plus, it’s really easy to access so you can keep an eye on it and check to see when it’s in need of a clean.
Different Floor Types
It works excellently across all floor types, and I was certainly not disappointed when using it on my hard floors and carpets. It does work excellently when used for edge cleaning, and this is mostly thanks to the new floor head that we mentioned in the first section.
You will find that the majority of the debris is gone after just one push. The powerful suction is great for lifting dirt and debris out of the carpets, and you won’t have to keep running it over the area to remove the fluff and debris.
Due to the fact that it can be too powerful (in the sense that it may lift the carpet) you might need a little extra work if you want to remove the smaller debris quickly. Both the main floor head and the Aero Brush work wonders on carpets.
Hard floors are a dream with this vacuum cleaner, and while the main floor head does a good job, you can end up with a snow plough effect – where the debris is just pushed forward by the floor head.
The hard floor tool is the same size as a normal floor head, but it has two sets of brushes that really work hard to clean your floors.
It’s ideal for regular hard floors and those that are more delicate, but you will notice a massively improved pick-up rate when compared to the standard head.

Attachments
The Henry Xtra HVX200-11 has a large number of tools and attachments to choose from. Of course, it comes with the standard Numatic kit, which includes a crevice tool for the tight corners and difficult to reach areas.
The dusting brush is ideal for use on surfaces and bannisters – the more delicate areas of your home – while the all-purpose nozzle with brush makes for the ideal piece of kit for cleaning the stairs and your upholstery.
Additionally, you have the adaptor for ensuring the tools fit directly onto the hose. What the Xtra also has, however, is the Aero Brush for pets. This is large and has a rotating brush so that you can really get into your carpets and remove all of the debris and dirt.
The turbine on the floor head is very easy to access as well, so you can unclog it without any hassle if it gets stuffed with pet hair. It’s perfect for regular carpet cleaning.
There is also the additional nozzle that has been specifically designed to deal with hard floors - especially those that are more delicate such as vinyl.
It can be used as the main head on your vacuum cleaner, and will also fit nicely into the parking bracket that we mentioned earlier.
How Does It Compare?
Here are some other, similar, models of vacuum cleaner for you to consider, just in case you want to look at other options before you commit to the Henry Xtra HVX200-11.
Conclusion
Hopefully, this Henry Xtra HVX200-11review guide has given you a little more information on how it works, and the ways in which it could benefit you when you are cleaning the home.
It’s one of the best Numatic models on the market because of the fact that it is able to offer so much power as well as a superb range of tools and accessories to make the job an easier one.
There aren’t very many issues with this vacuum cleaner either, with the main one being the fact that it isn’t always the safest to use when cleaning the stairs. However, this seems to be the same across most Numatic models, and there are affordable solutions on the market.
It’s the ideal model for homes with pets and kids, or even just for quick tidying up once a week. Definitely one of our top vacuums.

Des the Henery xtra work efficiently on high pile rugs?
Does the Henry Xtra effectively clean high pile rugs? I’m worried the suction will be too strong to glide smoothly across rugs.
Does it work great on long piled carpets and rugs?
Yes this is a great allrounder really.
