I was a little cautious with the Charles wet CVC370-2 as it isn’t a carpet cleaner, but I was still eager to give it a whirl and see how it dealt with my home.
I have very messy dogs, and when they drink water it’s like someone released a small lake in my home, and it becomes wasteful to keep using paper towels.
I decided that the Charles wet model from Numatic was the perfect thing to test out a new solution for ridding my home of excess water.
I wasn’t disappointed. Numatic is a great brand for many reasons, such as manufacturing their machines in the UK, but one thing you can always rely on is that you are getting value for money. Put some time aside and make sure you read through this charles hoover review.Â
Presenting the Charles CVC370-2
The Charles wet CVC370-2 is the best vacuum cleaner for those who want a standard vacuum for cleaning the home that is combined with the ability to suck up the wet messes that are occasionally left behind.
It promises to deliver power, and the ability to keep up with whatever you have to throw at it. The Charles wet and dry vacuum make for a reliable piece of cleaning kit.
However, if you are in need of a vacuum cleaner that has wet and dry vacuum functions, but can also wash and shampoo your carpets, this is not the model for you.

Power & Design
The Charles wet CVC370-2 is a wet and dry vacuum cleaner, which means it does not have to comply with the EU laws regarding wattage. As a result, it does have a higher wattage than a standard Numatic vacuum cleaner so that it can suck up liquid messes with ease and efficiency.Â
The overall power level is excellent, both in wet and dry vacuum cleaning modes, so you don’t need to worry about a weak machine. Aside from the power button, you can also choose between wet and dry vacuum cleaning modes before you start.Â
The buttons are covered with a plastic casing to ensure that there is no damage to you or the machine, and the process of changing between the two is very quick and easy. Just make sure you are using the right setting to avoid causing any harm to the vacuum cleaner.
Much like the George, the Charles CVC370-2 uses the old floor head as the main cleaning tool. This does not have the side cleaners that the new one has, and it also uses the old metal baseplate instead of the new plastic one.
As this machine has a higher wattage, it does not need the newly designed floorhead for increased power and suction.
It does come with the new parking slot though, so you can stand the head and hose upright while taking a break or when putting it away.
The new slot at the back is certainly one of my favourite features, and it helps the machine stay more compact.
Unfortunately, this model of vacuum cleaner only comes with one hose. As a result, we recommend that you wait for it to dry after a wet clean-up before using it for dry vacuum jobs – or you will end up with a very dirty hose.
However, the hose itself is incredibly long and can reach the top of the stairs, something we look at a little later one. The bent handle comes with two lightweight aluminium extension tubes for you to use, helping you reach high areas when you are using the dry vacuum.Â
This does help a little when it comes to the overall weight of the machine, and you can rest assured that they will not rust. Additionally, the cord measures at an excellent 10m. It is stored externally, but it won’t cause annoyance and is easy to tidy up.Â
Effectiveness on Cleaning Stairs
One of the brilliant things about the Charles CVC370-2 is that the hose is long enough to reach the top of the stairs, something that is very hard to find in Numatic vacuum cleaners, and that only the HET200 has managed to replicate.
So, when you clean the stairs, you won’t need to balance the machine at the top in a dangerous position. The tools and accessories, primarily the all-purpose tool, will help you to clean the stairs and leave them looking absolutely fantastic.
They really lift the grime and dirt from the carpet, or just help to keep the wood looking nice and clean. Overall, this vacuum cleaner does a fantastic job of ensuring that stairs are kept in fantastic condition.Â

Weight and Handling
Much like other wet and dry vacuum cleaners from Numatic (such as the George GVE370-2), the Charles CVC370-2 is heavier and bulkier than most. Combined with the accessories and tools, it can be a little trickier to store away, but it does pack up neater than most vacuum cleaners.Â
Plus, you have the aforementioned parking slot on the back so that the main floor head can stand nicely and without falling over.
Even though it is heavier than most, especially after cleaning up liquid, the handling is still very easy. This is helped by the wheels on the base of the machine, but also due to the tools and attachments.
They are easy to use, and they can help to make cleaning and overall handling much easier. Additionally, the carry handle can make the process more comfortable.Â
Dust/Liquid Capacity
The Charles CVC370-2 is able to cope with both wet and dry vacuum messes, and as a result, it has two different areas for storing them – depending on the setting you are using. For dry messes, it has a large capacity of nine-litres.
When it comes to wet mess, you can expect a massive 15-litre capacity that can hold even the largest floods. Looking first at the dry capacity, the machine comes with a total of four dust bags, which should last you several months before they need to be replaced.
They are made using the new HepaFlow material, which means they are much stronger and more durable than ever before – so even if you overfill them, they are unlikely to burst.
There is also a new and very secure seal for those with asthma and allergies, and I can state that they really are good at holding everything inside.Â
Numatic has thought about your safety and that of the machine, and that is why there is a flotation ball that rises with the water, ensuring that the suction is cut off immediately should the tank become full when you are cleaning up any liquid mess.Â
This is attached to the motor and is easy to locate as well as remove it, if and when it is necessary.
Cleaning Different Floor Types
This blue wonder does have wet and dry vacuum capabilities, but as we have mentioned before, it does not wash or shampoo carpets. In this section, we look at how it cleans hard floors and carpets, but also have a peek at its wet capabilities.
When vacuuming the carpet, the powerful suction is definitely apparent, and you are sure to feel impressed by the amount of power available to you.
It’s great for picking up the larger debris, but you might need to run it over the same spot a couple of times to get the smaller stuff, as the suction can be too strong and lift the carpet slightly as it goes.Â
On hard floors, it also works excellently, sucking up the fine debris with no issues at all. However, the main head can end up pushing the large debris forward instead of sucking it up due to the way it is made.
However, you can make things easier by lifting the head slightly when you are cleaning up larger chunks.
For wet messes, it provides an excellent level of powerful suction that works quickly to remove the liquid from the floor.
While it cannot scrub or wash your carpets, you can rely on this to suck up anything that has been spilt without any issue.
So, whether you have pets like mine that leave water everywhere, or you have kids that like to make a mess, this dry vacuum cleaner has you covered.Â

The Charles CVC370-2 comes with the usual Numatic attachments for vacuum cleaners, and these are sure to help make your vacuuming tasks much easier to complete.
The crevice tool is the most popular as this helps you to reach even the tightest corners of your home so that you can keep it perfectly clean.Â
There is also a dusting brush for gentler cleaning and more delicate areas, such as your coffee table or the bannisters. It provides a gentler clean to prevent scratching or damage to the surfaces.
Plus, it can pick up smaller debris on your hard floors quite well. Then, you have the all-purpose nozzle. This has a removable brush, and it is an attachment that has been designed to deal with your furniture as well as areas like the stairs, ensuring things are easier for you.
Additionally, there is an adapter so that you can attach the tools directly to the hose, which is great when you are working in smaller and more confined areas.Â
There are also two floor nozzles. You have one that works on wet surfaces, so for cleaning up those liquid messes, as well as a combination nozzle for cleaning your carpets and hard floors (the main floor head).
