Robot vacuums are the unspoken love of my life. I’m a massive geek for fun tech gadgets in my home, and the robot vacuum is probably one of my favourites.
When Dyson first announced their robot vacuum cleaner, I almost fell out of my chair. One of my favourite brands and forms of home technology together? Sign me up.
My house will never be fully compatible with a robot vacuum because I have stairs, but the downstairs areas are used the most, so that’s where I decided to set the Dyson 360 Eye up when it came in the post.
I was eager to test it out, especially as I live with pets and know that robot vacuums do sometimes end up having issues with collecting it. I went into my test routine with a clear and eager mind though, and it was a really fun experience.
In short, I really liked this vacuum cleaner. It was fun to use, intelligent, and one of the best ones I have used. I was a little sad that my dog couldn’t ride it, but I suppose that dream will have to wait for the next one!
Want to know what I loved and loathed about our future robot overlords? Take a read of my detailed review below.

Presenting the Dyson 360 Eye
The Dyson 360 Eye is the perfect model if you are away at work all day and don’t have time to keep on top of the vacuuming.
Using your phone, you can just send it on its way when you are ready, or schedule cleaning sessions, to keep the house clean while you aren’t home.
That way, when you have a day off, there is a lot less to do in terms of housework. It is true that this robot vacuum might not be the right match for everyone reading this though, and this is especially true if you have low furniture.
The Dyson 360 Eye is a little tall (122mm to be precise) so it can’t get underneath to clean. If this is something that will bother you, then you might want to take a look at our other models at the end of this review as they are shorter.
Design and Features
One of the great things about the Dyson 360 Eye is that it only takes a couple of minutes to get it all set up. I appreciate this in a vacuum cleaner, because the last thing I want to do is spend an hour stressing over how to get it working.
So, the fact that this one was nice and easy was a big relief. It also has a great modern design, with a tall build and the navigation camera located on top of the machine.
It is also slimmer than other robot vacuums in terms of width, so it can slide around the home quickly and fit into tighter spaces. I loved the futuristic feel that I got from this model.
The power controls are located on the top of the machine, and they are just as sleek and modern as the rest of the model. You will also find that there are two different cleaning modes you can choose from.

The quiet mode will lower both the suction and the volume, and also has a longer battery life, while the max power setting has better suction and a shorter battery life.
The suction is absolutely incredible, and when people say the Dyson 360 Eye has twice the suction power of other models of robot vacuums, they really aren’t lying.
The cyclonic technology means that the airflow is increased, but it can also help to keep the filters from getting horrific too quickly.
In addition to this, it has a full-length rotating brush bar on the underside, and this works to clean your floors quickly and thoroughly, rotating at 78,000RPM. There are also side brushes so that it can reach right into the corners and get to the sides without issue.
Plus, there is a set of tank tracks to ensure that the transition between hard floor and carpet is an easy one. One of the most exciting features is the fact that you can control it with your phone using the Dyson app.
While you are away from home, you can schedule it to clean each day, change the settings, and even ensure that it has reached its charging station. Additionally, you can view the maps it has generated each day, and it will provide you with detailed cleaning reports after its run.
How Noisy is it?
The average sound level is 80db, which is well within the EU guidelines for noise. While it is in the quiet cleaning mode, it is actually quieter than this – to the point that you could sit and watch TV while it runs around the house and cleans up.
Battery Life and Charging
With the Dyson 360 Eye, the first clean is always the most disappointing, and I am saying this because I don’t want you to think that it’s going to be the normal running time. The first run will only last around 20 minutes before it returns to its station to charge.
However, after this, it will run for around 45 minutes and give your home a fantastic clean. The charging period is approximately three hours, and this is quite standard for robot vacuum cleaners.
When it has finished with its cleaning sessions, it will automatically return to its docking station and sit there patiently; charging and waiting for further instruction.
The navigation is one of the features I love most about this vacuum cleaner. As it moves around your home, it creates a detailed map of where everything is, and it will send this to you after its cleaning runs.
However, Dyson also understands that you are likely to move furniture in the future, and this can confuse the vacuum cleaner. To combat that, the Dyson 360 Eye creates a new map of your home every time it leaves the charging station and sets off on another cleaning route.
This makes it more versatile, and means you don’t need to worry when you change the house around.
There are also sensors all over the machine to stop it from bumping into things and falling off steps, and this works fantastically to keep it in line and ensure that each cleaning session is a smooth one.
Dust Canister and Filter
For a robot vacuum cleaner, a 0.34L capacity is actually pretty impressive, and it will be more than enough to go over your home once if you have it running every day.
Plus, the canister on the back is very easy to access and empty; which makes the whole thing free from hassle and nice and simple. Just take it off, tip it out, and slide it back in again.
There are also two HEPA filters on this model, which is ideal if you live with someone who has asthma and allergies. It collects all of the particles and even pet dander to make your home easier to live in.
They are both washable as well, and all you need to do is rinse them under running water and then leave them to dry completely before putting them back in. Just remember to do this monthly to prevent a loss of suction and other potential damage.

How Well Does It Clean: Including Pet Hair?
Overall, the cleaning is great. Of course, if your home has not been vacuumed for a while, it’s going to need to be emptied a few times and take a few runs, but as with any robot vacuum it has been made for maintenance.
It’s the perfect companion to a full-size vacuum cleaner, and it works hard to lessen your workload. On hard floors, it just sweeps over the area and picks up dirt, dust, and debris, aided by the brush roll on the underside of the vacuum cleaner.
It’s quick and efficient, with no snowploughing and it doesn’t blow debris to the side either. Plus, it works well in both power settings. My one pet peeve? It doesn’t reach under low furniture because it is just a little too tall.
On carpets, it also does a good job. The brush bar works hard to comb through the carpet and really pull up dirt and dust that has become lodged inside. While it can clean in the quiet setting, it is not as effective, and the maximum power mode is highly recommended for carpets.
In addition to all of this, you will find that it is able to pick up and tackle pet hair really easily, and the risk of it becoming clogged is quite low.
Even with multiple animals, I found that it ran very smoothly when left to maintain the home every day – once the dogs were used to their new companion, of course!
How Does It Compare?
Here are some other, similar, models of robot vacuum cleaner for you to consider, just in case you want to look at other options before you commit to a Dyson 360 Eye.
Neato Robotics Botvac D85
The way this robot vacuum cleaner has been designed means that corners are no issue, and it can really squeeze into those tight and hard to reach places.
The combo brush works hard to make sure that everything gets picked up quickly.
The navigation software means it won’t be bumping into things every two minutes, and you can leave it running while you are out without running.
iRobot Roomba 621
Roomba is the king of robot vacuum cleaners. It has a fantastic battery life, returning to its docking station after every cleaning session.
The navigation is superb, and the suction good enough to keep the home clean and take part in regular runs across the home.
The dust canister has a good capacity, and it is really easy to empty afterwards so that you can get back and running again.
We hope that this Dyson 360 Eye guide has helped you to discover more about what this robotic vacuum cleaner is able to do, as well as whether or not it is going to be the right fit for your home.
A new vacuum is a tough choice to make, but when it comes to robot models, this has to be one of the best. For all of its great features, there are some negative ones as well.
The price is the big issue that many people have, but you pay for what you get – and what you get is otherworldly suction for a robot vac. If you are able to splurge on a model like this, it’s highly recommended.
It is a little tall as well, which means that it has trouble reaching under low furniture, and this can be frustrating for those who need it. Despite all this, it remains one of the most intelligent models on the market; with smart technology and handy controls that allow you to operate it no matter where you are.
In total, this vacuum cleaner gets an excellent 4.5/5. What did you think of our Dyson 360 Eye review? Do you agree with our thoughts on the vacuum, or are there others that you think are better suited to the task?
