Design and Features
When this vacuum cleaner arrived, my first impression was that the box was a lot smaller than I initially expected (although it was nicely designed). Upon opening it, I found the vacuum cleaner to be reasonably packaged and securely fitted to prevent sliding and potential damage.
The attachments were separately packaged and slotted comfortably into the small gaps made for them. Minimal assembly was required, and the instruction manual was fairly simple to read when it came to ensuring everything was being put together correctly.
Its overall appearance is smaller and more compact than I had imagined. It has quite a sleek and stylish design, and the hose is incredibly long which was helpful when vacuuming the stairs.
However, it is quite a heavy machine compared to others models. I was surprised by the weight and bulkiness when I went to use it on the stairs.
It has a HEPA 13 filter that makes it absolutely ideal for those with allergies and asthma.
When using this in my home, there were no reactions to dust or other indoor allergens when this was in use.
It did an excellent job of capturing them. It is also great for pet hair, collecting even the most embedded fur from the carpet with great ease.
It may be powered by the mains, but the bagless technology means it is far easier to empty this vacuum cleaner once it is full.
Plus, it has a 2.2L canister, which gives you more time to clean the home thoroughly before it becomes full. The filter is also removable and washable, so you can keep everything clean and tidy.
Despite being heavy and bulky to carry around, this Phillips vacuum cleaner is actually quite light, almost weightless, when it is being used.
It is incredibly easy to steer and move around the house, with no effort. It has a grade A energy rating, so it will save you on power usage, as well as an A grade for hard floor cleaning.
It comes with six attachments (one of these is classed as a 2-in-1) for optimal cleaning around your home.
When running, this vacuum is surprisingly quiet, which initially made me wonder if it was actually going to have any suction on my floors. There was certainly no need to wonder for long, as I discovered.
It uses power cyclone 7 technology, giving it incredible suction. Despite having just thoroughly cleaned my carpets, this machine was able to lift up a whole new load of dirt that I did not even know was there.
I was shocked at the work it did on my carpet, especially considering is has a C grade rating for carpet cleaning.
It ran smoothly over my carpet, and was particularly efficient at grabbing the embedded and excess dog fur that had collected over the course of the day. It has three power settings – carpet, hard flooring, and upholstery. For all of these, the suction and power are equally excellent, leaving my home in a completely new state of clean.
It comes with a crevice tool that was particularly good for reaching high up cobwebs and dust bunnies that were right behind pieces of furniture.
It also did a wonderful job on the skirting board. The 2-in-1 brush and small nozzle were great for the furniture and cleaning tough spots.
I used the hard floor nozzle in the kitchen, and it picked up debris wonderfully and without missing anything. The debris was quite small, but nothing was left behind.
The tri active max nozzle offered extra power that helped to get rid of dirty spots on the carpet (notably by the front door) with minimal effort and fantastic results.
I was a little disappointed that there was no dusting tool, but the ones provided were powerful and yet gentle on things like soft furnishings.
The only annoyance with these tools is that a few of them were quite difficult to get on and off, taking up time and effort trying to get them to attach or to remove them.
This Phillips vacuum cleaner is certainly deserving of its A grade rating for furnishings and hard floors. However, I do not think is deserves a C grade for carpets.
It did an exceedingly good job on mine, and I was surprised by how much it had to offer in terms of power. It certainly deserves an A grade, or at least a boost up to B. Overall, a fantastic result from this stylish model.
Q: Does it have multiple power settings, if so how many?
A: Yes it has 3 power setting and I been using this for a good few months now and still the vacuum power of the second setting (medium) is still powerful as it is before. Rarely that we use the full power setting. That's how powerful we noticed this vacuum is.
Next, I took this Phillips vacuum cleaner to the stairs for testing. I have a slightly awkward staircase, and this bulky machine was not easy to use on them.
While the hose is quite long, allowing me to reach higher up without moving the main machine, you need to be up close to get a thorough cleaning result.
The bulkiness meant that the vacuum could be difficult to balance on the stairs at times, and the process of cleaning them took longer as a result. Despite these setbacks, the vacuum did an excellent job of cleaning them, and the attachments also came on very handy.
The crevice tool was particularly useful here as I was able to get into all the corners on each stair and give the railings a good vacuum as well, removing any cobwebs that had formed.
I also used the tri active max nozzle on some of the toucher sections of my stairway carpet. The results were fabulous.
It was able to pick excess hair and fur out of the carpet with ease, and surprised me again when I saw how much dirt had been removed from my flooring in such a short space of time.
It may have been awkward and heavy to use on the stairs, but the results are indisputable. It did a fantastic job both with pet hair and the general removal of debris from deep in the carpet.
Should You Buy It?
The short answer is yes. If you are looking for something that is not only pet friendly, but also great for those with asthma and allergies, it doesn’t get much better than this.
Of course, the price can be a little off putting as it is certainly not a vacuum cleaner that is within everyone’s budget. However, it is certainly worth every penny that is spent on it for the fantastic job it does. It’s one that is worth saving up for.
While a little heavy, it is surprisingly easy to move around while in use and will offer a superb level of suction and power that is not always expected from such a quiet machine.
This is all thanks to the cyclonic technology they have incorporated into the vacuum, as it provides a powerful yet easy clean. The amount of embedded fur it removed from a newly cleaned carpet is testament to that.
It has an A grade for energy consumption (which is great for the planet and your energy bill), as well as an A grade for hard flooring and furniture.
While the vacuum is rated as a C for carpets, the superb job it did on mine make it worthy of at least a B. The pickup of debris from the surface was fantastic, as was its general cleaning ability.
It was a little heavy and awkward on the stairs, but still managed to do an exception job despite me having to balance the vacuum on a step at several points. The weight is probably one of its biggest let-downs.
Overall, if you are looking for something that does its job well and is bagless for easy emptying, then this might just be the perfect vacuum for you.

This vacuum cleaner offers incredible power with a range of useful and efficient attachments to go with it. While these can be hard to attach and remove, they do an excellent job and help keep the carpet clean. What’s more, it is ideal for pet hair and the HEPA 13 filter provides a little relief for those who suffer from allergies and asthma.
Whilst doing this test and review, it truly did a fantastic job on my home, leaving the carpets better than they have ever looked and my hard flooring sparkling.
It is unfortunate that the vacuum was so heavy and bulky when it came to the stairs, but at least it was not noticeable when in general use. While expensive compared to most models, it is well worth the price and a vacuum cleaner that I would highly recommend.
